RIMYI encourages all teachers to have a mentor. RIMYI is also setting requirements for who needs a formal mentor. Ideally, your mentor should be the teacher with whom you have the most consistent, committed, and connected relationship. This teacher should be someone you study with and interact with regularly in the process of developing your practice and teaching.

About Ali Dashti

Ali is a Senior teacher based in Bern, Switzerland and Pune, India. He trained directly as an apprentice of B.K.S. Iyengar and was an instructor at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute since 1986.

Ali is known for his sharp eye, gentle manner and vast depth of knowledge all of which make his workshops and Zoom classes very popular with students and teachers around the world - not to mention the fact that learning wit Ali is fun! He also offers a mentoring programme for teacher training. Ali can be seen in numerous books and videos such as "Yoga: the Path to Holistic Health", and "Understanding Yoga through Body Knowledge". He has also released his own books "The Art of Sequencing " and "Yoga-My Love" for Iyengar yoga teachers. These books have been translated into French, Chinese, Spanish and Persian.

The eight aspects of yoga

On a purely physical level, practice of the asanas (postures) increases muscle tone and general vitality. It also rapidly improves circulation, co-ordination and balance. The practice not only promotes flexibility and skeleto-muscular fitness, it also improves the function of the circulatory, nervous and endocrine systems – offering a truly holistic approach to health and well-being.
